Mocean is Hyundai’s car subscription service. So if you’re looking for a flexible, affordable way to drive a premium or new Hyundai, Mocean could be the best car subscription provider for you.

Mocean launched in 2021 to compete with other in-house car subscription services like Jaguar Land Rover’s Pivotal and Volvo Care, as well as to take advantage of the growing car subscription market.

Like all car subscription services, Mocean allows drivers to get a car with all major expenses included, such as maintenance, road tax, and insurance. Drivers have the option to customise their subscription so they just pay for what they need.

While Mocean is currently only available in London in the UK, Hyundai intends to roll their service out nationwide in the near future.

How does Mocean work?

It’s simple to sign up with Mocean:

1. Browse their available cars online and choose the car you want, along with the contract length, mileage, and insurance type.
2. Upload the required documents to their online portal.
3. If you pass the credit and ID check, your application will be approved.
4. Collect your car from your local approved Hyundai retailer (currently only in London) within 21 working days.

You can also have the car delivered to your home for a small fee.

When your contract ends, you’ll return the car. Alternatively, you may be able to extend your subscription, switch to another car, or even buy the car from Mocean.

Driver eligibility and requirements

Mocean’s eligibility requirements are relatively strict compared with other car subscription providers. Drivers subscribing to Mocean must:

• Be 25 to 75 years old.
• Have held a full UK or EU driving licence for at least 12 months.
• Not have had a fault claim within the last year.
• Never have been refused car insurance or had a car insurance policy cancelled or voided.
• Not have been advised by a doctor to stop driving (or have a medical condition that impairs their ability to drive).
• Not have had any major convictions in the last 5 years.

If you’re adding extra drivers to your subscription, you must have no more than 1 fault claim between you in the last 12 months, and no more than 3 minor convictions between you in the last 5 years.

How much does Mocean cost?

The cost of a Mocean car subscription depends on which car you choose, the length of your contract, your insurance premium, and how much mileage you need. Mocean car subscription costs currently range from £297 to £909 per month.

In addition to car hire, all Mocean car subscriptions include:

• 800 miles (this can be upgraded for a fee)
• Fully comprehensive insurance
• Roadside assistance
• Servicing and maintenance at approved Hyundai dealerships
• Road tax
• MOT
• Courtesy car when required
• Up to 2 additional named drivers.

Fuel, congestion charges, parking, and toll fees are not included.
