My Car Direct offers a wide range of cars on subscription, with all major driving expenses covered in a single monthly payment. Unlike other car subscription companies, My Car Direct offers cars on a range of contract lengths. This enables them to offer certain cars at lower rates than some other car subscription providers — as their rates become cheaper if you subscribe for a longer period.

My Car Direct also offers rental cars for those looking for a temporary vehicle, as well as ongoing car and van subscriptions.

How does My Car Direct work?

The entire car booking process takes place online. Browse My Car Direct’s range of subscription cars, then choose your subscription length, how much monthly mileage you need, and the colour of the car. Then create an account and submit your details.

My Car Direct will then confirm your eligibility and the availability of your chosen car online. If the car you have chosen is not available, a member of their team will give you a call to discuss other available vehicles. You’ll pay a £250 joining fee which makes you a member for life, plus a refundable deposit to secure your car. Your first monthly payment is then taken no more than 24 hours before your car is delivered.

Depending on the availability of your chosen car, you can start driving your subscription car in just 3 working days.

Driver eligibility and requirements

To take out a car subscription with My Car Direct, you’ll need to:

  • Have a full, valid UK driving licence (or a licence from a country that has a reciprocal relationship with the UK)
  • Have a UK Address and UK bank account
  • Have no unsatisfied CCJs (county court judgements)
  • Pass a credit check.

How much does My Car Direct cost?

When you subscribe to a car from My Car Direct for the first time, they charge a one-off joining fee of £275 which makes you a member for life, whether or not you are currently subscribing to a car. My Car Direct also charge a refundable deposit of £250-£500, refunded at the end of the contract, excluding any deductions for damage.

One attractive part of My Car Direct’s offering is free delivery and collection anywhere in the mainland UK, this means that if you want to take full advantage of the flexibility offered by subscription and swap between vehicles, you won’t be hit with additional fees.
