Why pick the Fiat 500 Electric?

If you're looking for a car that's fun to drive, practical and efficient in the city, and cheap to buy and operate, then you should consider the Fiat 500 Electric. It's not the most exciting thing on four wheels, but it does what it does well: it'll get you where you need to go while doing so on as little electricity as possible (and with zero emissions). But is that enough?

The electric Fiat 500 is still tiny, both on the outside and on the inside. It's a city car, so it's small enough to zip around crowded streets with ease. It's also light enough that you don't have to worry about it being a burden when parking or driving in tight quarters like garages or side streets.

The seats are comfortable and supportive, especially when compared to the outgoing model. They're even more supportive than those in other small EVs, such as the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Kona Electric. They're also better than most other small cars.

It's a small car, so don't expect to fit your whole family into it. It's not a practical car, so don't expect to pack up your camping gear and head to the mountains without trading in some comforts. It's not a family car, either—you won't be taking your kids to soccer practice in this thing. And while it might look like a sports car on the outside, inside it feels more like the cozy cab of an electric golf cart than anything else.

Since the Fiat 500 Electric is not built for long distances or heavy cargo loads (which is fine).

Other than the boot, there isn't much storage space in this car, though. There are a few other storage options, but they don't amount to much. The driver and passenger seats fold down, as do the front seat bottoms.

There are no cupholders in the cabin of this car, so you'll have to keep your drinks upright at all times. There are also no door pockets or cubbies within arm's reach of the driver's seat—the only place for bottles and snacks is either on top of your thighs or at your feet where they can easily be knocked over by something else in the car like your feet or legs.

The glove box doesn't hold much besides a manual, registration paperwork and maybe some coins; there isn't even room for an emergency charger cord inside it.

The Fiat 500 Electric is a good introduction to electric mobility for people who don't want anything too fancy or expensive. It's easy to drive and park and the driving experience isn't all that different from what you'd get in any other 500 models. If you're looking for something with more pep and luxury features, though, you'll probably want to keep looking at non-EVs.
